Senior/Environmental Consultant - Contaminated Land

The Position:

Right now, we're seeking a talented and self-driven experienced Senior Consultant wanting to take ownership in actively driving growth and expansion; or an experienced Consultant looking to take the next step into a Senior Consultant role. This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual with expertise in contaminated land assessment & remediation, environmental management and monitoring to join our Head Office team based on the Gold Coast, with extensive work from home (WFH) available. We are looking for someone who can independently hit the ground running and deliver on our high field and reporting workload requirements.

The role will encompass a blend of field work and related office/desk reporting duties on a diverse range of projects predominantly located throughout QLD & NSW. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion and ability to deliver high quality consulting services and have the opportunity to enhance their already sound skills in environmental sampling and monitoring (soil/water/gas/vapour), contaminated land assessment, project management, remediation & validation and general environmental consultancy by synergising with skilled Senior and Principal Environmental Scientists.

The Candidate:

To be considered for this opportunity, it is essential that you have all of the following (as a minimum):

  • Completed a bachelor or higher degree in Environmental Science, Science or Environmental Engineering, with relevant industry experience (3+ years for Consultant level, at least 5+ years for Senior level).
  • Proven experience in Environmental Consulting and field work specialising in contaminated land assessments (Suitably Qualified Person [SQP] status highly regarded), including soil investigations including test pitting, bore holing and direct push methods, well installation, sampling techniques (e.g. soil, surface water, groundwater and ground gas/vapour) and demonstrated skills in data analysis, interpretation and report writing.
  • Professional membership with Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ), Australian Land & Groundwater Association (ALGA) or similar professional body preferred.
  • Experience managing environmental projects from inception to completion, including budget and timeline management.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant Commonwealth & State (primarily QLD & NSW) environmental regulatory frameworks and related guidelines.
  • Be self-motivated, well-presented and take pride in your work, with a strong desire to continuously improve technical skills, quality and contribute to a team.
  • Be flexible and available for occasional work/travel outside normal office hours and to remote locations as and when required, depending on our workload and client requirements.
  • Be physically capable and willing to work on projects and problem-solve autonomously, including via flexible work from home (WFH) arrangements.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of business and with clients.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite essential; basic knowledge and experience with soil logging programs (Tablogs or others), mapping and/or drawing programs (e.g. AutoCad/ArcGIS), and/or analytical programs such as gINT, SPSS, ProUCL etc.) is preferred.
  • Be willing to support other technical disciplines and provide staff mentoring to ensure the success of a given project, maximise client satisfaction and contribute to business growth & development.
  • Hold a current Australian Driver's License & have own roadworthy and reliable vehicle (cost reimbursement via expense claim) and be prepared to travel predominantly within southeast QLD and northern NSW.
  • Hold a construction industry induction (White Card) qualification (or be willing to obtain prior to commencement).
  • Current First Aid certificate (within last 3 years) and WH&S training relevant to environmental fieldwork preferred.
  • Be willing to undergo a Queensland Police Check, pre-employment medical examination and drug & alcohol screening.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Project Management of assigned projects ensuring the delivery of client projects to meet customer satisfaction (budgets, timeframes, legislative requirements, etc.) including communicating with key stake holders.
  • Utilising your technical background to deliver high quality work in the areas of contaminated land assessment, environmental monitoring, and environmental licensing & management.
  • Conducting a range of field activities including, but not limited to soil and groundwater investigations, groundwater and surface water monitoring, landfill gas & air quality monitoring and environmental due diligence assessments.
  • Preparation of technical reports including data management and presenting findings, and where applicable recommendations, to clients.
  • Displaying strong attention to detail with the ability to research & review documents and draw valid conclusions to support recommendations.
  • Contributing to ADG Consulting’s continued success by identifying, creating and converting opportunities through proactive client relationship management.
