The Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand is incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 2012. The Institute is governed by its Rules of Association as required under the Act.

The Rules of Association came into effect on 30 September 2014.

Amendments were approved at Annual General Meetings held in October 2017, November 2024 and November 2025, as well as at a Special General Meeting held in May 2021
