    Sally O’Neill is the Associate Director of TERN Ecosystem Surveillance, contributing to a national long‑term ecological monitoring program delivered through Australia’s environmental research infrastructure under NCRIS. She brings a diverse range of skills and interests across ecological monitoring, applied research, and environmental decision‑making, with a strong focus on translating science into real‑world outcomes.

    Sally has played a leading role in developing the Ecological Monitoring System of Australia (EMSA) in partnership with DCCEEW, supporting consistent and high‑quality ecological monitoring for large‑scale ecosystem restoration projects. More recently, her work has focused on strengthening ecological approaches to impact assessments for renewable energy projects.

    She is passionate about working alongside industry, government, and practitioners to improve ecological understanding, advance world‑class best practice, and support informed decision‑making and policy.

    Sarah is a Principal in the Environment & Planning team at Rhelm, with a degree in Environmental Engineering from UNSW. She has 17 years’ experience in environmental impact assessments, environmental licensing and management, water management, natural resource management (coasts, estuaries and rivers) and mine site rehabilitation in Australia.

    Sarah has been a member of EIANZ since 2020 and is currently Secretary of the SA Division of EIANZ.

    Nick is an ecologist and environmental practitioner in South Australia, a Director at Lathwida Environmental, and a committee member of the SA EIANZ. Nick has experience in a combination of ecological assessment and project management, developed through more than 22 years of planning and implementing ecological surveys and environmental projects supporting infrastructure approvals.

    Nick has undertaken several leadership roles in large consulting organisations over the years, both in South Australia and Nationally. He has lead business groups which delivered environmental investigations and environmental approvals for major infrastructure developments across a range of sectors (including energy and renewables, mining, transport, water utilities and Defence).

    Matthew is Principal/ Managing Director at Environmental Elements, and has over 25 years’ experience in environmental and approvals disciplines, with 20 years in the mining sector across the iron ore, uranium and mineral sands sectors.

    Having worked in multiple jurisdictions in Australia and overseas, Matthew is a specialist in bringing operational experience to impact assessment and obtaining regulatory approvals.

    Matthew is increasingly interested in social impact and communication of impact assessment issues and worked extensively with First Nations peoples.

    Matthew is based on Kaurna land in Adelaide, where he was born and raised his family. He has been a member of EIANZ for many years and is currently a Committee Member of the SA Division of EIANZ.

    Since graduating from a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science and Biology) in 2022, Rachel's professional experience has involved focusing on providing solutions for private and government agencies that require environmental and communication services across SA, NSW and VIC. In the time Rachel has been in this industry, she has worked across various projects, successfully gaining planning and environmental approvals under state and federal legislation, developing numerous environmental impact assessments in areas of urban and road infrastructure, renewables, quarries, water management, linear infrastructure, and telecommunications.

    Rachel is currently working as an environmental impact assessment officer at SA Water. Her current role involves providing internal support on environmental impact and approvals for water and wastewater infrastructure. This includes ensuring the company is operating within its legislative requirements whilst also achieving the best environmental outcome.
