  • Employment Status: Full Time hours – Temporary for up to 24 months, with the possibility of extension and/or conversion to ongoing after the initial 12 months

The Opportunity & Role


We are looking for passionate individuals to join our Planning Officer and Environmental Assessment Officer (PO1A) rotation program. The Planning and Assessment division has multiple teams which each specialise in their area, with each offering the unique opportunity to upskill and build a solid foundation across planning and environmental assessments. This is the opportunity to learn and play a key role in supporting significant state government initiatives and projects.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to assist with the high quality, efficient and timely assessment of the planning merits of State significant projects to meet all statutory obligations, Government policy requirements and Government goals. In doing so, you’ll contribute to a robust and efficient state planning system that achieves strategic infrastructure, economic and growth objectives and achieve important outcomes for the people of NSW.

Ideally you will have a minimum of 12 months experience within the planning, science, biodiversity or environmental industry, an enthusiastic can-do attitude and a high attention to detail.


Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in planning, environmental science or management, engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation and processes
  • Willingness to travel and (minimum) Class C Driver’s Licence

Agency Overview

The Planning, Industry and Environment Cluster brings together the functions from the former Planning & Environment and Industry Clusters.

The new Cluster will drive for greater levels of integration and efficiency across key areas such as long-term planning, precincts, housing, property, infrastructure priorities, open space, the environment, our natural resources – land, water, mining – energy, and growing our industries. In particular, there will be a redoubling of emphasis on regional NSW.
