Field Ecologist (multiple full time, part time and casual positions)

Ecology and Heritage Partners Pty Ltd is an established Company with a highly experienced ecological and cultural heritage team.  The Company specialises in ecological and cultural heritage projects throughout Australia for a range of Government agencies and corporate clients.  We currently have offices in Melbourne, Geelong, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney. 

We are seeking to appoint motivated and enthusiastic individuals who wish to further develop their experience and skills as a Field Ecologist and the position provides excellent prospects in a growing business for the right person.  We have several available positions across our Victorian operations, based in Melbourne and/or Geelong, including full time, part time and casual positions.

This position requires you to have practical experience, particularly in regard to undertaking field based flora and fauna surveys, having excellent identification skills, familiarity with Victoria's flora and fauna species and the ability to communicate this information, both verbally and in highly technical reports, to our clients.

Ecology and Heritage Partners continues to manage its staff remotely with ongoing support from the Natural Heritage team across its operations.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably a post graduate degree in environmental science (botany, zoology, ecology), natural resource management, or related discipline.
  • A minimum one year practical experience undertaking field based flora and fauna surveys.
  • Knowledge of, and preferably how to apply, environmental legislation and government policy such as the EPBC Act and Victoria’s Guidelines for the Removal, Destruction or Lopping of Native Vegetation.
  • A willingness to learn quickly, and to demonstrate high level of professionalism.
  • Other non-technical skills required include excellent communication skills, high level of computer literacy, and ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • You should be prepared to work flexible hours, including when conducting ecological field surveys, and be willing to travel to field locations (often in remote areas) throughout Australia.
  • Current Victorian Manual Drivers License and capacity to work outdoors essential.
