THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated and capable Environmental Planning Consultant with 2–5 years’ experience to join our growing Environmental Solutions team in a full-time role.

In this role, you will contribute to the environmental planning and assessment of a diverse range of infrastructure and development projects across NSW, including transport, civil infrastructure, land development and public sector works.

You will be supported by a friendly, knowledgeable and inclusive team, with opportunities to grow technical expertise and take increased responsibility as your experience develops.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Preparation of environmental impact assessments including REFs, EIS inputs, SEEs and constraints assessments;
  • Undertaking environmental due diligence and feasibility assessments;
  • Coordination of specialist environmental sub-consultants (including ecology, noise, contamination);
  • Interpretation and application of relevant NSW legislation, guidelines and planning pathways including EP&A Act, SEARs and REF frameworks;
  • Preparation of technical reports to a high professional standard;
  • Liaison with clients, government agencies and internal project teams throughout the assessment and approval process;
  • Supporting environmental approvals for infrastructure and development projects; and
  • Undertaking field work and site inspections as required.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively, communicates clearly, values quality work and is motivated to build a successful consulting career.  There is opportunity to obtain qualifications and experience in environmental management systems auditing.

BK. Engineering Consulting Solutions is a growing civil engineering and environmental consultancy providing services across bridge, road, civil, structural, environmental and flood studies to both government and private sector clients.

This role is within the Environmental Solutions Team and has been created due to continued growth of the business. We have offices in Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Lismore and Armidale, with the position available at any of these locations.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management or similar;
  • 2–5 years’ experience in environmental assessment or environmental consulting (NSW experience preferred);
  • Experience preparing or contributing to environmental impact assessment documents;
  • Working knowledge of NSW environmental and planning legislation and guidelines;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a solutions‑focused mindset;
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet project deadlines; and
  • Experience building and maintaining professional relationships with colleagues, clients and regulators.
