Our culture is built on collaboration, technical excellence, and giving our people the autonomy to do their best work.

About the role

As Ecology Lead, you'll sit at the intersection of technical leadership and business development. You'll lead the ecology team day-to-day while actively growing Fyfe's pipeline in Queensland – attending industry events, nurturing client relationships, and identifying new opportunities across the renewables sector and broader development industries

This is a rare opportunity to help grow Fyfe's ecology practice in Queensland, working across renewables and a range of other sectors.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Business development & growth
  • Lead and grow Fyfe's ecology presence across Queensland, with a focus on the renewables sector
  • Manage and create client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact
  • Identify new opportunities and convert them into engagements
  • Represent Fyfe at industry events, professional associations, and networking forums to grow our profile

Technical & operational

  • Provide trusted ecological advice and quality oversight across the team's project portfolio
  • Lead delivery of complex or high-profile projects, ensuring outputs meet and exceed client expectations
  • Oversee risk identification and management across projects, keeping stakeholders well informed

Team leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of ecologists – supporting their development and career progression
  • Contribute to team composition planning as the practice grows
  • Drive continuous improvement in how we deliver projects

About you

  • 8 + years' experience in ecology or environmental consulting
  • Strong client relationship management skills; you're comfortable in the room with clients and genuinely enjoy that side of the work
  • Experience leading or mentoring a team of technical staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrated project management and commercial acumen
  • Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications advantageous
  • Relevant professional memberships (e.g. EIANZ) well regarded

Why Fyfe?

  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Brand new state of the art offices near Central Station, Brisbane (moving July 2026)
  • Collaborative and inclusive team culture where good ideas are welcomed at every level
  • Professional development support including memberships, conferences, and training
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across a broad range of sectors
  • Generous parental leave policy
  • Employee Assistance Program for you and your immediate family
