We pride ourselves on an evidence-based approach to environmental problem solving. Our culture encourages independent thinking, project stewardship and environmental leadership.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a motivated and talented early- to mid-career Ecologist to join our team. We are a small but highly skilled group of environmental specialists committed to providing the highest quality of service to our clients and improving environmental standards in our industry.  You will work alongside other Environmental Scientists / Ecologists, be mentored by leading senior scientists and report to a Director with more than 20 years' experience in the environmental field.

This is a rewarding and diverse role, which will provide you with exposure to various aspects of ecology, conservation and environmental management. It is a role for someone seeking:

  • an opportunity to utilise your existing knowledge,
  • to continuously learn and develop new skills and expertise,
  • to contribute to and be part of a committed and passionate team,
  • occupy a diverse and pivotal role that includes both field- and office-based work,
  • to be involved from project inception through to completion,
  • to be challenged - this role encompasses all aspects of professional advisory, from project management, environmental assessment to reporting and client liaison,
  • to work with a blue-chip client base across typologies and collaborate with Tier 1 co-consultants and advisors.

The Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or science majoring in ecology, zoology or botany (Honours minimum).
  • Demonstrated experience in both botanical and zoological survey and assessment methods.
  • Queensland plant and animal identification skills.
  • Proficiency in spatial analysis (GIS).
  • Knowledge of local, State and Commonwealth environmental assessment and approvals process.

We are looking for someone with 1 – 5 years of experience in the environmental industry, ideally with either consulting or government experience. As a self-motivated individual, you will have a passion for fieldwork and a strong focus on client outcomes and project delivery. Confidence in your technical expertise will be complemented by effective verbal and written communication skills and the capacity to appropriately prioritise and manage deadlines.

The Benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for an established, boutique environmental firm where you will have the imprimatur to work directly with clients, contribute to the business and strengthen your skills across an array of project scales and types. You'll join a supportive, integrated team of highly regarded professionals who are incredibly passionate about their work. Based in Brisbane, the role provides the need for flora and fauna survey assignments throughout Queensland and interstate.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with competitive remuneration, commensurate with the skills and experience. We also provide professional and technical development opportunities and maintain staff professional memberships. We encourage the development of your own networks and the initiation of your own research, methods and tools that can add value to the business and its clients.

If you’re as smart as you think you are, and believe your progress and value should only be constrained by your ability to deliver, then we should discuss this opportunity as a matter of urgency.
