Biosis is looking to appoint an ambitious Botanist to join our team in Melbourne for a full-time 12-month contract position, with the opportunity to extend for the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading consultancy, which provides ecological, heritage and environmental approval services throughout south-eastern Australia.
Biosis employs a highly experienced multi-disciplinary team of aquatic ecologists, archaeologists, botanists, zoologists, environmental planners and GIS operators. We have offices in Albury, Ballarat, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney, Wangaratta, Western Sydney and Wollongong.
Our ecology team includes experienced Principal and Senior Consultants who coach and mentor our team members. In Victoria, we work on a variety of projects across Victoria, providing an opportunity to explore and learn more about Victoria’s flora and environmental approvals.
We are seeking a candidate who will embrace the dynamic nature of consulting. This role provides the opportunity to build on your knowledge and skills in Botany and project management.
Our Melbourne office is located in Port Melbourne, close to the CBD and easily accessible by public transport. We are a very short walk from the North Port tram stop. This central location provides access to all the services of Melbourne without the hassle of traffic and parking.
About the role
The Botanist will have experience in field botany and the capability of providing environmental advice and guidance to our clients. Your responsibilities will include designing, coordinating and undertaking field surveys and projects, preparation of proposals and technical reports, and undertaking project management and client liaison responsibilities. Additionally, you will establish an industry presence in the professional community as a Botanist.
The Botanist will work closely with our multi-disciplinary team of professionals and will become an integral member of the ecology team in VIC. The Botanist is a key contributor to existing and future projects throughout VIC, and a driver for the development of our ecological capabilities in the region.
