The Role

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Auditor Assistant (Contaminated Sites) to join our highly regarded and dynamic Geoscience and Remediation Services team based in Melbourne.

Our environment team helps private and public sector clients in Victoria, Australia and around the world deliver for their stakeholders while achieving compliance, promoting resilience and reducing, eliminating, impacts and risks to our communities and our natural environment. The role includes the opportunity to work with AECOM’s Environmental Auditors (Contaminated Land) for large clients, technically interesting and complex sites, and to develop and utilise experience in a wide range technical disciplines across Victoria and further afield.

As an Environmental Auditor Assistant (Contaminated Sites), you will play a significant role in managing and delivering excellent quality work for our clients and will support the growth of the contaminated land business by developing and enhancing client relationships and winning work. You will work with a great team of environmental engineers, scientists, geologists, hydrologists and hydrogeologists, providing oversight and support for a wide range of Audit projects.

This role will offer flexibility for part or full-time work, and opportunities for involvement in direct contaminated land consulting works including site assessment, contamination management, and remediation projects.

Your responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to:

  • Review of environmental assessment reports, management plans, remediation planning and validation reports, and other technical documents and reports relating to management of contaminated land
  • Preparation of site audit notifications, scopes and reports
  • Conducting site inspections to observe site conditions and fieldwork programs (occasional)
  • Participation and presentation of information in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel and other relevant stakeholders
  • Proposal and tender preparation
  • Project management, including planning, budgeting, financial management, scheduling, quality reviews, communication with relevant project stakeholders
  • Regular communication with the Audit team, clients, consultants and other relevant project stakeholders

About You

Ideally, you will have:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification(s) in environmental science, geoscience, hydrology, soil science, environmental engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience (>5 years) in a professional contaminated land consultancy setting, including knowledge in the areas of project management, and a sound foundation of involvement in field project design operation and oversight (including assessment of soil, soil vapour, sediment, surface water, groundwater), data management and interpretation, site remediation, risk assessment, and professional reporting and technical communications for a variety of land use types. 
  • Experience in Environmental Audits (Contaminated Land), either directly assisting auditing, or indirectly through supporting contaminated land assessments.
  • Knowledge and application of State and National contaminated land guidance and regulations.
  • Strong communication and management skills, and the ability to manage your own responsibilities and to effectively work with co-workers, other consultants, and clients.
  • Experience in environmental, health and safety management and a commitment to ensuring that whatever works you’re undertaking are conducted safety and without risk to humans or the environment.
  • Valid Victorian drivers’ licence and satisfactory driving record for business travel.
