Role overview

We’re looking for a Project Manager Lead to take ownership of our Project Management Office (PMO) — the engine that powers consistent, efficient, and high-impact project delivery. This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership role: you’ll coach and develop our project managers, own our project delivery processes and tools, and personally manage some of Niche’s most significant client programs.

We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for all positions.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire the PMO team — including a Senior Project Manager and Business Analyst and Project Controllers — to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.
  • Own and continuously improve Niche’s project management framework, ensuring it’s simple, effective, and aligned with our purpose.
  • Oversee key client programs, ensuring delivery excellence, risk control, and commercial performance.
  • Champion best-practice governance, reporting, and resource planning across the business.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and drive innovation in project delivery.

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree/undergraduate degree or post graduate qualification in discipline field.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, with leadership experience in managing a team of project managers and/or controllers.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or similar).
  • Proven ability to simplify processes, embed consistent tools, and create clarity across complex programs.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

We’re looking for people who…

  • Have a growth mindset and positive approach to problem solving.
  • Thrive on creating structure and clarity.
  • Lead with empathy and accountability.
  • Believe that great project delivery is both disciplined and human centred.
  • Are passionate about making a tangible difference for people and the planet.

Why join Niche?

  • Collaborative, supportive work environment.
  • Work on a diverse range of interesting and meaningful projects across Australia.
  • Access professional development and career growth opportunities to help you reach your potential.
  • Enjoy true flexibility, with work arrangements that support balance and individual needs.
