ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISOR

Ravenswood Gold Pty Ltd is the owner and operator of Ravenswood Gold Mine, located approximately 130km south of Townsville. The mine is a proven producing asset and is transitioning to a large scale, low cost open pit mining operation.

The Townsville Region in North Queensland, Australia, offers diverse experiences from the awe-inspiring Great Barrier Reef, World Heritage Wet Tropics and the enchanting outback towns of Charters Towers and Ravenswood. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Environmental Advisor to join our team. This permanent opportunity will report to the Environment and Community Superintendent and be a vital member of the Environment, Approvals and Community (EAC) Team. The principal function of this role is to provide environmental support to the site in line with the company’s environmental management plans and regulatory requirements. A team approach, with attention to detail and a commitment to safety is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Participation and input into the ongoing development and implementation of the site’s Environmental Management System
  • Assist in the development and improvement of environmental management programs such as land management, waste management, hazardous substances management, water management, regulated structure annual inspections and exploration environmental programs
  • Assist with reporting programs involving NGERS, NPI, weekly/monthly reporting, DES waste reporting and Permit Returns
  • Conducting training and awareness, work area inspections, contractor management and managing (and investigating) environmental incidents
  • Providing general environmental advice and assistance to the site operations
  • Coordinating and development of environmental projects
  • Inform site management on statutory environmental obligations
  • Assist EAC department as required

ABOUT YOU

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in environmental science or related disciplines is required.
  • A sound knowledge of Environmental Management Systems
  • Experienced at coordinating and preparing internal and external reports
  • Knowledge and understanding of Queensland environmental legislation
  • 3+ years’ experience working on a mine site
  • Experience in managing environmental consultants and contractors
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver quality work within required deadlines
  • Sound experience with Microsoft suite, GIS systems and databases
  • Must live within the Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers region, or surrounding areas (within - 200km of Ravenswood) or be willing to relocate to the area
