Webinar 1 | Draft Australian Collision Risk Framework for onshore and offshore wind farms

About the Webinar

The Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the Department) invite you to participate in a workshop as part of the Renewables Environmental Research Initiative (RERI). RERI is undertaking research, and developing guidance and tools to support efficient and robust assessments under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).

What to Expect

The Department has engaged Symbolix in partnership with ecological experts to develop a RERI project – a draft Australian Collision Risk Framework (the Framework) for onshore and offshore wind farms. This project aims to create a standardised and transparent framework for assessing collision risk to bird and bat species listed under the EPBC Act. It provides guidance to support faster assessments. The Framework draws on international best practice to provide nationally consistent guidance for environmental impact assessments. The webinar will focus on the following topics:

  • Development and research informing the Framework
  • Scope and alignment of the Framework with the EPBC Act and other assessment processes
  • An overview of the process and suggested resources, activities and outputs at each stage
  • A walkthrough of the website and information on how to access and provide feedback
  • Q&A session

Who should attend?

This webinar will appeal to a large range of environmental professionals including project developers, regulators and consultants.
