EIANZ NSW Division and University of Technology Sydney's Sustainability Alliance of Students and Staff (SASS) proudly present "Deep Dive into Sustainability Careers". This event is designed for students and early-career professionals who want to gain practical insight into what it means to work in sustainability and how to build a career in the field.

What can you expect from the event?

  • Career insights from industry professionals – hear from four professionals working in the sustainability field
  • Different perspectives across the profession – speakers represent a range of practice areas, including infrastructure, industry and design
  • Skills and advice for graduates – speakers will reflect on the knowledge, capabilities and professional skills relevant for those entering the field
  • Panel Q&A and networking – attendees can ask questions directly to the Sustainability professionals

If you are already interested in the sustainability field or still exploring environmental career options, this event will help you better understand the profession and how to start building your own pathway into it.

Meet the Speakers

Charlotte Armstrong – Sustainability Consultant, GHD

Charlotte works within GHD's Climate and Infrastructure team, supporting sustainability advisory and climate risk projects. Her experience spans infrastructure sustainability ratings, climate adaptation and resilience, and decarbonisation initiatives. Charlotte is also a recent UTS graduate, having completed degrees in Finance and Sustainability in 2025.

Mitchell Gertos – Sustainability Manager, Etex Australia

Mitchell leads sustainability initiatives across Etex Australia's operations, with a particular focus on circular economy outcomes, manufacturing sustainability, and improving environmental performance across the building materials sector.

Laszlo Horvath – Associate Sustainability Engineer, Arcadis

Laszlo has extensive experience delivering sustainability and decarbonisation outcomes on major infrastructure projects, including Sydney Metro and the Melbourne Metro Tunnel. His expertise includes embodied carbon, infrastructure sustainability ratings, sustainable materials, and low-carbon design.

Ruby Bhave – Senior Sustainability Consultant, GHD

Ruby is a Senior Sustainability Consultant at GHD, with 5 years’ experience working in the climate risk space and also has experience across infrastructure sustainability and GHG accounting. She specialises in helping public and private sector clients understand and respond to climate-related risks through risk assessments, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. Ruby has also managed the development and delivery of disaster risk reduction strategies.

Zoe Morrison – Senior Sustainability Strategist, City of Sydney

Zoe Morrison is a Senior Sustainability Strategist with the City of Sydney, where she leads the development and implementation of key climate action and resilience initiatives. She oversees the City of Sydney's climate action and sustainability planning, including the delivery of the Environmental Strategy 2030 and the Resilience Strategy 2028. She is particularly passionate about using data, evidence, and climate science to better understand community vulnerability and resilience, translating complex climate information into practical actions that help communities adapt and thrive. Zoe holds degrees in Marine Biology and Project Management, as well as an MBA from the University of Sydney.
