This presentation will outline the EES Process, using the Viva Energy Gas Terminal Project as a case study.
Viva Energy is proposing to develop its Gas Terminal Project in Corio Bay, Geelong, comprising a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) to store Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) received from visiting LNG carriers and regasify the LNG as required to meet south-eastern Australian gas market demand.
On 28 December 2020 the Minister for Planning required Viva Energy Gas Australia Pty Ltd to prepare an EES under the Environment Effects Act 1978 to assess the potential environmental effects of the project. Draft scoping requirements for this EES were on public exhibition from 26 April to 17 May 2021. A formal EES is currently being prepared.
