Join the ACT Division of EIANZ, for an exclusive ranger-guided tour deep within the conservation fence of the Mulligans Flat woodland sanctuary in Gungahlin, ACT.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see nocturnal native animals, such as eastern bettongs, quolls, possums, sugar gliders and wallabies, in their natural environment, all while learnings about the establishment and ongoing management of the sanctuary.
Come and see what is possible when foxes and feral cats are effectively excluded from the landscape, including the coordinated re-introduction of threatened species and the key role they play in re-building critically endangered woodland ecosystems. Bring along your partners, parents and children (over the age of 8 is recommended) and explore this amazing resource right on Canberra’s doorstep!
Our group will meet at the Wildbark Visitor Centre at sunset (5:30pm) and walk approx 2km as a group, to where the actual tour will begin. All attendees need to be able to walk without assistance on and off track during the tour, but special arrangements may be possible to get attendees with mobility constraints to and from the starting point. Please advise us in advance if this is required. Free parking is available at the visitor centre.
Please dress appropriately for the tour (warm clothing, sturdy footwear, rain protection etc) and bring your own torch, water container and light refreshments, if required. In the event of rain, the tour will still go ahead. However, if there are high winds or lightning, the tour may need to be postponed.
