The Toowoomba Second Range Crossing is a 41 kilometre heavy vehicle bypass route to the north of Toowoomba. When finished, it will connect the Warrego Highway at Helidon Spa in the east to the Gore Highway at Athol in the west via Charlton.

Join EIANZ and the Toowoomba Landcare Group for a full day event to discuss the technical aspects of environmental management on this large greenfield project. The day will include a bus tour that will visit various area’s of the site to look at environmental management such as:

• Erosion and sediment control
• vegetation management
• fauna management
• water quality
• site rehabilitation
• on-going monitoring and reporting
• approvals
• lessons learned

Please note that attendees on this tour will need to provide: steel capped boots, hi vis shirt, hard hat and safety glasses. If required, Nexus can supply you with everything except the steel capped boots.

Nexus Infrastructure was awarded the contract to design, construct, operate and maintain the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing in August 2015.

The key features of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing include:

• four lanes from the Warrego Highway east interchange to the Warrego Highway west interchange
• grade-separated interchanges at Warrego Highway west, Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road and the Gore Highway
• grade-separated connections to Mort Street and Boundary Street
• an approximately 30m deep cutting at the top of the Toowoomba Range, to ensure all classes of dangerous goods and heavy vehicles can be accommodated
• an 800m long viaduct built east from the New England Highway at Mount Kynoch, crossing over the existing Queensland Rail line
• continuity of the New England Highway through arch bridges over the cutting.
