Ian Boothroyd FEIANZ CEnvP - Ecology

Ian Boothroyd has been at the forefront of leadership and sustained ethical practice within the environmental sector of NZ, through his senior role in several organisations (including research institutes, University and consultancy), his contribution to several learned societies, including EIANZ (where he was NZ Chapter President from 2015-2017 and continues to serve on the Executive Committee), his role as Associate Editor of AJEM, and his influence through his ethics, advocacy and representation at all levels on behalf of the environmental profession.

He is a skilled and experienced manager of ecological impact assessments and his opinions and solution-focus are highly sought; he is also a recognised decision-maker for regulatory consent and permissions involving environmental impacts, where he has acted for several regulatory authorities in NZ. In addition, Ian has been involved in the publication of several national guidelines (including the award-winning EIANZ Guideline for Ecological Impact Assessment in NZ), and has published many scientific papers and reports. Ian has taught many practitioners and continues to mentor early career starts in their chosen profession. As an environmental practitioner, who has a record sustained leadership, contribution and influence within the environmental sector, Ian is a highly deserving recipient of an EIANZ Fellowship.
