The EIANZ Merit Awards celebrate members and practitioners who have made an outstanding contribution to the Institute and/or the environmental profession. Presented annually at the EIANZ Annual Conference, the Merit Awards have celebrated exceptional professional service and practice since 2007.
Four of the five awards are named after Honorary Life Members of the Institute – recognising the individuals whose own contributions set the standard for others to follow.
The highest award bestowed by the Institute, recognising outstanding service to EIANZ at an Institute level.
This award is open to EIANZ members only. Nominations may be submitted by any EIANZ member or CEnvP.
Named in honour of Simon Molesworth AO KC HLMEIANZ CEnvP, whose distinguished contributions to environmental law and to EIANZ have shaped both the profession and the Institute.
Recognises a member or practitioner who has provided outstanding service to EIANZ at a Divisional, Chapter, Special Interest Section or committee level.
This award is open to EIANZ members and CEnvPs. Nominations may be submitted by any EIANZ member or CEnvP.
Named in honour of Mary Lou Morris HLMEIANZ, whose dedication to EIANZ's regional communities established the standard for grassroots professional leadership.
Recognises outstanding contributions to the environmental profession by a young practitioner.
This award is open to EIANZ members and CEnvPs. Nominations may be submitted by any EIANZ member or CEnvP.
Named in honour of Tor Hundloe HLMEIANZ, whose career as an environmental economist and advocate demonstrated the impact a committed young practitioner can have on the profession and on environmental outcomes.
Recognises outstanding practice by an individual EIANZ member or non-member, intended to serve as an exemplar for all environmental practitioners.
This award is open to any environmental practitioner, regardless of membership or certification status, reflecting EIANZ's commitment to recognising excellence across the broader profession. Nominations may be submitted by any EIANZ member or CEnvP.
Recognises the best article published in the Australasian Journal of Environmental Management during the year.
This award is determined by the Journal editors and is not open to nominations.
Named in honour of Eric Anderson HLMEIANZ, inaugural Editor of the Australasian Journal of Environmental Management.
Do you know a practitioner who deserves recognition for their contribution to EIANZ or the environmental profession? Nominations are welcome at any time and are considered annually. Each year's closing date is announced separately – typically around July, ahead of the EIANZ Annual Conference.
Nominations may be submitted by any EIANZ member or CEnvP and must be seconded by an EIANZ member. If you are a CEnvP without a member connection, the Program Office can help match you with a seconder. Download the nomination form and supporting guidelines, and submit it by the closing date. Nominations are considered by the EIANZ Board, with recipients announced at the EIANZ Annual Conference.
