Webinar | Textile recycling

The Student and Early Careers subcommittee is thrilled to invite members across all EIANZ divisions and non-members to join us as we hear from After_Au’s Yesha Patel, the founder of an innovative for-purpose textile recycling company.

For one hour and a half we would like to have a lively conversation about the industry and we encourage everyone to participate. As the realities of environmental pollution become more pressing so are the ingenious way of addressing the issue. The fashion industry is littered with greenwashing and poor practices. Dealing with the associated waste falls on government and other for-purpose organisations. The webinar will be interactive, informative, inspiring and relevant.

As someone who appreciates fashion, when it came to clearing out her wardrobe, Yesha couldn’t find suitable options that were convenient and transparent on where her clothing ended up once she disposed of them. Bringing together her learnings from her Masters of Entrepreneurship, and her passion to solve the problem of textile waste, she founded After. Not only did she stop buying new clothes since she started her business, but also pledged to disrupt the way we dispose of our textile waste. Her passion lies in sustainable and circular fashion to ensure we take care of our beautiful environment. She finds joy in connecting with people and being inspired. She enjoys innovating in ideas and solutions that help the world become a better place. As a woman of colour herself, Yesha believes BIPOC professionals and founders are constantly underrated and is on a mission to fight the glass ceiling for herself and her peers. We look forward to welcome everyone to learn about the pain points of the industry and the way the problem is addressed. This is also an opportunity for people to learn about the entrepreneurial journey of women.
