Meet the speakers:

Emma Bennett | PhD Candidate at Monash University

Emma Bennett is a leading expert in Post Construction Fatality Monitoring (PCFM), with 20 years of experience in wind energy and its impacts on wildlife. She supports developments across Australia and Asia, helping to achieve wildlife-friendly wind energy solutions. As a member of the International Scientific Advisory Committee on wind and wildlife issues, Emma collaborates with global experts to drive best practices in the industry.

A strong advocate for bat-friendly renewable energy, Emma provides innovative strategies that enable rapid development while minimising risks to vulnerable species. She pioneered the use of detection dogs at wind farms and continues to champion industry best practices to enhance sustainability and conservation efforts.

Michael Whitby | Director of Bats and Wind Program at Bat Conservation International

Michael has 12 years of experience working on bat conservation in academic, public, and private settings. He has studied bat distribution and behavior with acoustic and capture techniques, radio-telemetry, thermal imagery, and NEXRAD RADAR. Michael specializes in the use of emerging technology and advanced analytical techniques to find practical solutions to wide-spread conservation challenges.

He holds a B.S. from the University of Maine and an M.S. from Ball State University, and hopes to complete his Ph.D. in the coming months at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

This event will run off Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) and will run for 1 hour. The webinar will be recorded therefore attendees and a link to the webinar will be sent to all registered attendees in the days after the webinar.
