WA | Environmental Practitioners Symposium 2026

EIANZ WA Division and the Environmental Practitioners Network WA are excited to present the Environmental Practitioners Symposium, to be held in Perth on 20 November 2026. This Symposium aims to showcase the incredible work of environment, sustainability, heritage and community practitioners in WA.

Environmental practitioners are operating in an environment of increasing regulatory scrutiny, rising community expectations and rapid technological change. This symposium will explore practical approaches that help practitioners deliver meaningful outcomes while maintaining trust and integrity.

This year's Symposium asks how practitioners can meet the rising expectations of regulators while delivering on the promises made to communities and the environment. Presentations focus on practical applications across three themes:

  • Compliance: how do we go beyond approvals and basic compliance? Our presentations will share examples and best practices in demonstrating achievement of, or progress towards, required environmental outcomes. This will include approaches to monitoring systems, transparent reporting, and risk management that upholds Western Australian social and environmental values.
  • Trust: what do communities expect of companies and environmental organisations to remain credible and trustworthy? Our presentations explore how trust is built and maintained across stakeholders.
  • Integrity: how do we define and uphold integrity, particularly as AI transforms how we work? We'll provide examples of what accountability looks like in practice and what organisations are doing to prove it.

Who should attend?

This symposium will interest environment, sustainability, heritage and community practitioners, as well as policy makers, regulatory authorities, academics, conservationists and land managers, among others. Whether your work centres on demonstrating compliance, building community trust, or navigating integrity in a world where AIvis increasingly relied upon, this is a chance to learn from peers tackling the same challenges. The symposium is open to EIANZ members and non-members. Please distribute this announcement to anyone in your organisation or professional circle who may be interested in attending.
