WA Division | 2026 Mentoring Program

EIANZ WA Division's 2026 Mentoring Program connects experienced environmental professionals with early-career practitioners seeking guidance to advance their professional development.

Why mentoring?

Mentoring is a transformative tool for environmental professionals at every career stage.

For students and early career practitioners seeking to further their professional development, mentoring can be invaluable in helping to realise the steps to growth, and as a support in navigating tricky workplace dilemmas where the right choice is not always clear. For experienced professionals, mentoring offers an opportunity to shape emerging talent while refining their own leadership capabilities through teaching, motivating others, and providing constructive feedback in challenging conversations.

Recognising the value of a multi-disciplinary approach to progress environmental practice and advocate to improve sustainability outcomes, the program welcomes participation from Sustainability, Environment, Social and Heritage practitioners.

Benefits of professional mentoring

As a mentee, a strong mentoring relationship offers:

  • Access to a confidential forum for independent and objective advice
  • Clarity and direction in defining your career path
  • Guidance and support during times of change or transition
  • Connections to new opportunities and professional networks in the industry
  • Deeper industry knowledge, easing the transition from university to professional practice

For mentors, the program provides opportunities to:

  • Develop and strengthen your leadership capabilities
  • Shape and support the next generation of practitioners
  • Earn CPD hours and points
  • Share your expertise and experience with emerging professionals
  • Reflect on your own practice, gain fresh perspectives and reinvigorate your career objectives
