The Victorian Division of EIANZ invites you to attend an upcoming presentation on The new OEI Bill for offshore wind farms - A Victorian Perspective.

The Offshore Electricity Industry Bill is currently with the Senate for final sign-off. This is legislative framework has been long-awaited by the offshore wind industry. Department of Industry Science Energy & Resources (DISER) is proponent, with NOPSEMA assigned as regulatory body for implementation of the OEI Bill.

Star of the South (SOTS) is first planned offshore wind farm in Victoria, Australia.

The in person event will be followed by networking over drinks and canapes.

Meet the speakers:

Owen Wilson, Project Lead – Offshore Renewables (NOPSEMA)

Owen has been with NOPSEMA since 2011 and has had in-depth involvement in the preparation of the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure framework since late 2019. Owen is currently leading preparations for NOPSEMA to take on the role of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator for renewable energy projects and electricity infrastructure in Australian Commonwealth Waters.

Prior to his role at NOPSEMA Owen worked in environmental regulation of mining and petroleum operations with the WA Department of Mines Industry Regulation and Safety (then WA Dept Mines & Petroleum, DMP).

Owen has a background in biological sciences, legislative reform and regulatory implementation.

Naomi Campbell | Development Director, Star of the South

Naomi Campbell is Development Director at Star of the South – Australia’s first offshore wind project. Prior to starting with Star of the South in 2019, Naomi was working in the energy, utilities and renewables sectors, including a decade in the UK offshore wind industry. Her experience spans all stages of project development including feasibility and due diligence, bid management, permitting and approvals, refinement, execution, and operations and maintenance. Naomi overseas Star of the South's approvals and land assembly workstreams and is proud to be able to bring her experience to Australia and be a part of a new industry in this beautiful and unique country.
