EIANZ's Student and Early Career Professionals network and SEQ Division, in partnership with GIS People, are excited to invite you to the Brisbane Geospatial Network's upcoming September event.
This event will explore the growing role of AI in industries like GIS and the environment sector, specifically in environmental law and fire risk in Australia. Expect a lively and informed discussion highlighting the innovations and challenges across the interconnected environment and geospatial sectors. Tips on using AI for personal career development; crafting resumes or job applications will also be shared.

Olivia Williamson, EIANZ
Olivia Williamson specialises in town planning and environment law at HopgoodGanim Lawyers. In additional to extensive planning advisory and litigation experience, an integral part of her practice is advising clients on environmental management, approval and compliance issues including representation in environmental prosecution and enforcement proceedings.
Olivia has been recognised in Doyle’s Guide as a Recommended – Leading Environment & Heritage Lawyer Queensland 2025, Leading Planning & Development Lawyer Queensland 2025 and included in the lists of The Best Lawyers in Australia 2021-2026 editions for Planning and Environmental Law. Olivia is a Fellow of the EIANZ and outside of her legal life, Olivia is active within a number of boards and organisations including The Women’s College Council, the Jane Austen Society of Australia and Justices of the Peace in the Community program
Alan Wong, BGN
Alan Wong is a Solution Engineer at Esri Australia, specialising in creating innovative demonstrations with a focus on artificial intelligence and geospatial technology. He has experience working with both government and private sector organisations, applying GIS to solve real-world challenges from environmental risk analysis to operational efficiency. He is passionate about how GIS can contribute to global issues and a wide range of use cases. Outside of work, he is a tech enthusiast who enjoys exploring emerging technologies and discovering how they connect with everyday life.
