Are you an environmental professional or student looking to improve your data analysis skills? This engaging workshop is designed for beginner to intermediate R users who are eager to learn more about managing, analysing and visualising environmental data. Led by Auckland University of Technology's Professor Sebastian Leuzinger, you will be guided to utilise real-world environmental datasets to teach you the fundamentals of R programming, data cleaning, basic statistics and creating clear visuals. This workshop will equip you with tools to make your data work harder for you.
Basic prior knowledge of R is required to follow along in this workshop. Participants must have a laptop with R and RStudio ahead of the workshop to ensure they can download the dataset that will be provided ahead of the event.
Questions will be accepted throughout the workshop.
Sebastian Leuzinger is a professor at Auckland University of Technology, where he specialises as a plant ecologist working at the interface of experimental and modelling work. Coming from an ecophysiological background (plant - atmosphere relations), he is increasingly interested in meta-analyses and overarching trends in the response of plants to global change drivers. He is editor-in-chief for the journal 'Frontiers in Functional Plant Ecology' and has been teaching statistics courses for many years, having recently published an introductory text to statistics using R called "R-ticulate - A beginners guide to data analysis for natural scientists” (Wiley).
This event will run off New Zealand Daylight Time (NZST) for 2 hours. The workshop will not be recorded. Participants must attend the live event if interested.
