Our seasonal Enviro Drinks is back to kick off 2026! Held at the beginning of each season, it's become a wonderful tradition for environmental practitioners to come together, network, and build lasting connections in our community. Guest speaker and topic: 'Merimbula Wharf Fish Habitat Restoration Project: A Community-Led Kelp Forest Restoration Story'
Rob McKinnon, a local diver and citizen scientist with extensive experience in the environmental sector, and Dr Cayne Layton from Blue Conservation Services will present on the Merimbula Wharf restoration project at our upcoming Enviro Drinks.
The project emerged from local community observations of increasing urchin barrens and declining habitat and species diversity. What followed was a remarkable collaboration bringing together recreational and commercial fishers, divers, citizen scientists, local researchers and a local dive business to restore this important marine habitat.
Rob and Cayne will discuss how the project has been successfully implemented and demonstrate how participants from diverse backgrounds and organisations are working together to achieve meaningful habitat restoration at Merimbula Wharf.
All events will be FREE to attend and will generally be informal in tone. Kindly be aware that drinks and food are not included with registration, however you're welcome to purchase them from the venue at your convenience.
We are planning on expanding the reach of Enviro Drinks in the future and would welcome any proposals to host in other regional locations. The events may also host speakers on occasion, at the discretion of local organisers in each region.
Join us at a location near you! Due to the location of these events, there will be a limit on attendees. Reserve your spot today to ensure you don't miss out.
