Aotearoa’s environmental legislation is changing significantly, with RMA reform reshaping how we plan for, manage, and protect our natural environment.
Following the NZ Chapter's introductory webinar last week, presented by Megan Couture, and a workshop on how to write submissions, this interactive workshop will provide students and early-career environmental professionals with the opportunity to actively contribute to EIANZ’s submission on the Natural Environment Bill.
This session is designed as a supportive space to move from understanding to action. Participants will work through key themes emerging from the legislation, share perspectives, and help shape submission content alongside peers. No prior submissions experience is required-— this workshop is about building confidence, learning by doing, and ensuring early-career voices are reflected in EIANZ’s advocacy.
Please note: Reading the Natural Environment Bill, or the sections most relevant to your profession, prior to attending is strongly recommended. The Bill can be accessed here →
Connor Whiteley is EIANZ’s New Zealand Chapter President and the Environmental Manager for Auckland Council’s Wai Ora Healthy Waters programme. Connor has over 13 years of experience in ecological and environmental science, having worked in both consultancy and regulatory roles. Actively involved in EIANZ’s submissions work, Connor is passionate about helping students and early-career practitioners understand policy processes, build confidence, and contribute their perspectives to environmental decision-making. He will also be joined by several senior specialists to provide their perspective around submission development.
Amanda Good is on the EIANZ NZ Chapter committee and is an Environmental Scientist at Viridis Limited.
This event will run off New Zealand Daylight Time (NZDT) and will run for 1 hour. This workshop will be recorded for minute taking only and will not be made available to delegates.
