EIANZ WA Division Mentoring Program 2021 | Expressions of Interest

Published 26th February 21 12:00 AM
The WA Division recognises the value of mentoring for both mentors and mentees in supporting and progressing their career and leadership aspirations. The Division supports the notion that mentoring is a valuable experience throughout one’s career and have established a mentoring program available to participants across all levels of work experience.

The EIANZ mentoring program has been designed to support participants to develop mutually beneficial relationships, and provide a forum for experienced environmental practitioners to explore and develop opportunities in their professional development in areas such as skills development, career growth, networking and work - life balance.

The mentoring program allows participants to discuss matters with others within an organised and supportive framework, and is not intended to help people find work through their relationship. Rather, the mentoring program supports relationships based upon encouragement, constructive feedback, openness, mutual trust, respect and a willingness to learn and share.

The Division acknowledges that a career contains many twists and turns, including sector changes and career breaks. Employment status is only a consideration if a mentee specifically requests for an actively working mentor.

If you would like more information on the mentoring program, please contact the WA division at wa@eianz.org

How does it work?

  1. Fill out the expression of interest (EOI) form as a mentor or mentee in the teal boxes below
    • All professionals of experience levels are welcome to apply
    • Mentees who are EIANZ members are charged a fee of $10 and non-members are charged $25 to participate in the program. Mentors are not charged a fee.
  2. We will match you with a mentor/mentee
    • To the best of our ability, we will attempt to match mentors and mentees according to their preferences and support the principle of life-long learning and knowledge sharing that underpins the mentoring program.
    • Eligibility criteria for mentors and mentees have been established to ensure that the purpose and objectives of the mentoring program are more likely to be met.
    • Mentors should have a minimum of eight years of working experience in a variety of environmental fields, in private and/or public practice.
    • Mentors will have excellent communication skills, particularly listening, a desire to contribute to the future of the planning profession and the time to commit to several 1 hour meetings for the duration of the program.
    • Mentors are able to log CPD points via the CEnvP scheme for participation in the mentoring program.
