Your invitation to join the Policy and Standards Committee

Published 9 September 2022

Do you want and can you help the EIANZ have a bigger role in promoting needed national- and practitioner-level environmental performance requirements? If so, then join us on the Institute’s Policy and Standards Committee.

The Committee is there to support the Board with sound advice on environmental policy, and advocacy of that policy and the role of the EIANZ in the profession and the community. Where possible we work closely with EIANZ’s Special Interest Sections and other committees to maximise the bang for buck.

Over the past 12 months we have been active and in partnership with others have: worked to, and updated, our work program; developed or revised the Institute’s positions on: Indigenous People’s Knowledge and Engagement; Climate Change, Water and Biodiversity; written and promoted a statement ahead of the Australian Federal May 2022 election; and sought opportunities to promote implementation of the recommendations from the Samuel review of the Australian Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act; and commented on the release of the Australian State of the Environment Report.

The Committee “Zooms” monthly (ten times a year) on the last Monday of the month (4pm-5pm Melbourne time) where you will contribute your ideas on emerging priorities, draft positions, and approaches to communications. In addition, it would be great if you volunteer some additional time (a couple of times a year) between meetings to sustain work plan momentum.

We’re looking for a diverse committee that is representative of EIANZ’s membership and interests and the environmental profession. The committee needs the knowledge and experience to sustain the environment and advance the reputation of the profession.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please email office@eianz.org and provide a short note together with your CV, bio or LinkedIn profile URL.
