The Role

Our Wellington sustainability team comprises a group of enthusiastic engaged professionals and is looking for a like-minded collaborative individual to join the team. Our team has a strong reputation in the market for delivering excellence on projects across New Zealand which will set you up for success.  We are currently seeking a Professional level sustainability consultant with 3-5 years’ experience. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects under the guidance of experienced Climate Change and Sustainability professionals; with the aim to be leading your own projects over time.

Key responsibilities

This role requires that you aid project teams in developing innovative sustainability solutions which reflect optimal environmental outcomes whilst balancing client objectives. You will be responsible for managing project workflows and delivering on commitments to the highest standard.

You will:

  • Aid in the delivery of projects to achieve excellent sustainability outcomes from an environmental and social perspective and improved organisational productivity and reputation
  • Support other team members across the local and national team
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills to deliver both internal and external service offerings.

About you

You are an enthusiastic individual with a commitment to both individual and team continued professional development. Ideally, you are a forward-thinking individual with technical foundations and an interest in sustainability outside of the workforce.

You will:

  • Have a degree in environmental science or sustainability management
  • Have a minimum of 3 years relevant working experience in a sustainability role and have an understanding of current industry trends related to climate change and sustainable development
  • Be passionate about sustainable development and a low carbon future and have a strong interest in fostering change for the better
  • Be an excellent communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Have experience with climate mitigation and or adaptation and have worked with carbon models and calculators – using Excel and bespoke tools
  • Experience with infrastructure sustainability rating tools (e.g. Greenroads or ISCA), 3rd-party environmental auditing or verification would be beneficial.
  • Experience working on local or government sustainability and climate change policy will be an advantage.
