The role:

As a Biodiversity Team Lead you will manage a successful team of Ecologists and Biodiversity Consultants across NSW (Sydney, Newcastle and North Coast NSW). You will be integral to the team’s success and seen as a true advisor and thought partner of the business. This could be an excellent career opportunity for a Biodiversity savvy leader looking to broaden their skillset, manage significant projects, and be supported by industry leaders across eastern Australia.

This role is responsible for directing and managing operational activities, projects, resourcing, people management and overall strategy of operations. We are looking for candidates with knowledge and experience to plan and resource field work, direct in-house field teams, and implement business strategy. Responsibilities:

  • Directing operational activities of the team and assisting with the implementation of overall organisational strategy.
  • Leading, motivating and mentoring team members through meetings, and monthly one-on-ones.
  • Managing and retaining relationships with existing clients.
  • Successful business relationship development, assisting the GM in creating a pipeline of forward work.
  • Manage resourcing and team billability, identify training needs, undertake performance evaluation, and build effective team dynamics.
  • Overseeing the successful delivery of the components of multidisciplinary environmental projects.
  • Contributing your knowledge to project delivery.
  • Contributing to bid related activities in collaboration with the Bids team.
  • Provide daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly feedback/reports to the GM, as required.
  • Work with other internal NGH functions such as Bid Team, Project Managers and other regional managers.

 Desired Skills and Experience

About you:

This role is suited to a consulting professional who is an experienced and collaborative leader looking to piece together the strategy and resourcing for environmental projects. You will have:

  • Experience leading a team of consulting professionals.
  • Tertiary qualification in a related field.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of ecological investigations and environmental impact assessments.
  • Environmental scoping and due diligence for development projects.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent project and change management experience.
  • Experience with strategic planning.
