EPIC ESSENTIALS

Due to the ongoing success of our growing water services team, we are currently seeking a qualified candidate to take on a role as a junior Environmental Scientist based in our Brisbane office. We have the projects and team to develop the technical skills to further your career at Epic.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the execution of projects for a wide range of clients under the direction of our Team Leaders and Principals. You will support the delivery of environmental projects with a focus on water quality (freshwater and marine) supporting environmental impact assessments, mining projects and environmental compliance.

This position offers excellent variety of work and in the role you will:

  • Undertake the planning and implementation of field based data collection
  • Support the delivery of a range of projects across multiple sectors
  • Prepare written technical reports
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Liaise with service providers for the purposes of service delivery
  • Acquire training and broaden experience to become qualified for more senior responsibilities, or to broaden skill set
  • Work as part of a project team to deliver projects to scope and within time, cost and quality requirements
  • Participate in strategy and innovation within the company to foster continued improvement

Fieldwork, including exciting travel opportunities, is an integral part of this role. The role involves undertaking field based collection and may involve field work in remote areas for extended periods of time (up to 2-3 weeks). The role also involves writing internal and client correspondence and reports and data interpretation & analysis. An interest in vessel-based field work would be desirable (and interest in obtaining required license to drive vessels), along with an interest in equipment maintenance (water quality instrumentation).

 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

To be considered for this position, you will need to possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications from a recognised institution in environmental science / water resources / or related discipline or similar relevant degree
  • A minimum of 1-4 years’ experience in an environmental consulting role, preferably operating in Australia
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
  • Competency in undertaking field investigations and willingness to undertake field work in remote areas
  • Demonstrated team player and able to self-motivate and take ownership of and be accountable for delivery of environmental investigations
  • Experience in proposal writing

 

The following would be desirable for the role, but not essential:

  • Off-road vehicle experience
  • Experience or interest in telemetered real-time monitoring systems
  • Experience or interest in water quality instrumentation
