Heritage Advisor – Melbourne

ECO LOGICAL AUSTRALIA PTY LTD is one of Australia’s leading environmental assessment, planning and management consultancies. We have offices across Australia and are continuing to expand our presence and capabilities in the environmental field.

Due to the company’s continued and sustained growth we have an exciting new role for a Heritage Advisor to join and learn from our team of dynamic and highly respected environmental professionals based in our Melbourne Office. The position offers an excellent opportunity to further learn from one of the best multidisciplinary consultancies and develop technical and professional skills in a supportive team environment. The role will involve working as part of a team in the preparation of archaeological and heritage assessments, undertaking field survey, archaeological excavation, research, report writing and project management.

We will welcome applications from heritage advisors specialising in either historical or Aboriginal archaeology.

To be considered for this role you will have:

• A minimum bachelor’s level honours degree or higher in Archaeology, preferably from an Australian university.

• Experience in archaeological survey, field assessment and excavation.

• Previous consulting experience, (ideally as a guide 2-5 years) including Victorian based projects

• Experience in the preparation of archaeological assessment reports and heritage assessment reports.

• Experience in the preparation of Aboriginal cultural heritage management plans conforming to the current requirements of Victoria’s Aboriginal heritage legislation.

• Practical, working knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic) and the Aboriginal Heritage Regulations 2018 (Vic).

• Sound communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others both internally and externally.

• Sound writing and time management skills.

• Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal people including community consultation.

• Willingness to travel and work in remote locations for field projects when required.

• A current driver’s licence.

Additionally, prior experience with project management, ability to meet deadlines, preparing fee proposals and managing budgets is highly desirable.
