The Water and Environmental Care Association Inc. known as W.E.C.A would like to find and fund appropriate scientific and environmental expertise to assist them at an impending Commissioner hearing likely to be held in Levin or Palmerston North New Zealand in early August. WECA activity is currently focussed on the Horowhenua catchment.
The case in question involves application by the Horowhenua District Council to Horizons Regional Council to re-consent an existing waste water discharge activity known as 'the Pot' for a further 35 years. This activity has been a consented activity since 1991.
We believe a small team of people with a mix of expertise across environmental, soil, freshwater and marine sciences would be best equipped to present a strong case to the hearing on our behalf. While individuals may apply, a small team application would be the most useful to support WECA's position at the hearing.
WECA wants to hear from applicants within New Zealand holding relevant postgraduate qualifications. WECA holds relevant information and reports which will be made available to the successful applicants.
Please direct questions to support an application at the earliest convenience and email your final application by July 1st to Geoff Keith (chairperson WECA Inc) at gf.keith@gmail.com
We acknowledge and value the rights and interests of Indigenous Peoples in the protection and management of environmental values through their involvement in decisions and processes, and the application of traditional Indigenous knowledge.
