About the roles:

We are searching for an experienced, mid-level bushfire consultant (up to five years’ experience as an indication) to join our bushfire planning team. If you have more than five years’ experience, don’t let that stop you from getting in touch about the role or others we may have in place!

You will have an opportunity to work on a range of secured, mid to long-term projects across our core business areas of land development, infrastructure and resources. We work with great clients who value our expertise and work with us to progress complex and interesting projects throughout the state.

Combining bushfire planning with spatial modelling, ecological investigations and environmental impact assessment is the core of the work we do in our team.  An understanding, or previous experience with in an environmental field will also be beneficial, as a large proportion of our bushfire projects also involve ecological assessment and environmental planning/approvals. 

You will work collaboratively with internal and external specialists across a range of disciplines to produce high quality documents that meet the needs of both our clients and regulators. We will provide you with opportunities to further broaden your expertise in a supportive environment, working together to achieve milestones, while encouraging initiative and collaboration at all stages.

About you:

  • Has a keen eye for detail; and
  • Can synthesise large amounts of scientific writing into meaningful outcomes.

To be successful you will also have:

  • A relevant scientific or planning degree in areas such as Environmental Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Management, Environmental Law, Environmental Planning or Urban Planning;
  • Up to 5+ years industry experience in undertaking assessments an preparing a range of high-quality reports including Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) assessments, Bushfire Management Plans etc.;
  • Demonstrated experience using GIS software;
  • Have experience in, or a keen interest in report writing, tender preparation, general project assistance and field work as required;  
  • An awareness of relevant State legislation and policies;
  • Previous experience in the consulting sector (desirable);
  • A Bushfire Planning and Design (BPAD) accreditation (or have completed the required training for accreditation); and
  • Current driver’s licence and the ability to travel if required.
