NSW Department of Planning and Environment has recently released the Draft Energy Policy Framework. This is intended to supersede the existing 2016 Wind Energy Guideline for State Significant Wind Energy Development.
The draft framework is a collection of guidance documents relating to DPE’s expectations for the assessment of renewable energy and storage projects in NSW under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. Included in this framework are specific guidelines for the preparation of environmental assessments for wind, solar and transmission projects. Also includes is updated guidance on the assessment of associated noise and visual impacts.
The draft framework is now open for consultation here. Consultation closes 29 Janary 2024.
As part of this consultation DPE will be hosting a webinar to outline the framework and to answer questions. In recognition of the importance of this topic to the energy transition, the webinar is being facilitated by EIANZ free of charge. The webinar will be open to both members and non-members. Once registered for the event, a webinar link will be shared with you prior to the event.
