The Auckland NZ Chapter of EIANZ invites you to attend a networking and contaminated land event.
Ever wondered what the NESCS is, or what PSI, DSI, SLUR, and HAIL stand for? Our presentation will first provide an introduction to contaminated land, including how it is identified and why this is important. We will provide a high level overview of how contaminated land is managed in New Zealand, discussing the NESCS and Regional rules and how these are applied during land development. We will then present a number of worked project examples to demonstrate how contaminated land is practically managed throughout a project, including contaminated soil and groundwater management.
Soil vapour associated with historic release of chlorinated solvents to ground can present a significant risk to human health. The risk can be magnified where the release is beneath a building where there is potential for upward migration of vapour into occupied space. 4Sight is currently working on a development where vapour intrusion is a significant concern, and where an innovative approach has been used to characterize vapour. We will present the details of our investigation and results of monitoring to date.
