Workshop:

1.30pm to 5pm
Brisbane Technology Park, Conference and Events Centre, 1 Clunies Ross Court, Eight Mile Plains.

Join us for a unique opportunity to see first hand the operations of an advanced water quality analytical laboratory and hear from senior environmental practitioners working in the field of water quality assessment and monitoring. You will get a practical insight into the science and practice of water quality assessment and monitoring.

This is a great event for those needing a refresher, for early career practitioners who could use additional practical knowledge and those who want to understand the work that goes on behind the scenes in a laboratory.

Participants in the workshop will learn about:

  • water chemistry in the context of water quality assessment and monitoring
  • practical tips for getting the best out of the services of a water quality analytical laboratory
  • Australia’s and Queensland’s water quality guidelines and the role of these guidelines in setting and monitoring regulatory standards
  • setting regulatory standards for the treatment of water prior to its disposal to land and waters
  • the repair of degraded water resources

If you join us for the whole day, you will visit the Symbio Laboratories. We'll take a 5 minute walk from the lab to Brisbane Technology Park for a networking lunch with other participants followed by the Workshop.

Workshop Speakers:

Dr John Thorogood
Managing Principal, FRC Environmental

Workshop Facilitator

Dr Carol Conacher
Principal – Wetlands, FRC Environmental

There is significant value in registering to attend the Workshop only. You will hear from leading scientists about contemporary practice in water quality sampling, analysis, and setting regulatory and rehabilitation standards for water resources.

All attendees will be better informed about contemporary water chemistry, scientific method, and regulatory practices in relation to the assessment and monitoring of water quality.

The full event will count as 7.0 points towards your EIANZ CEnvP Professional Development Log. The Workshop only will count as 4.0 points.
