24 October 2011 - The future for Environmental Professionals

Date: Monday 24 October 2011
Time: 7am - 8am, registration from 6.45am
Venue: College of Tourism and Hospitality (COTAH), Southbank Institute of Technology, Level 2, Block C, 66 Ernest Street, South Brisbane.

While human activity has always impacted upon the environment it is only in relatively recent times that there have been national and international approaches to manage these impacts.

While these impacts had been recognised by most nations, the dust storms in the United States in the early 1930s led to the modern organisations, together with the legislation to act. This included the compilation of environmental impact assessments. Similar activity to that in the US followed in Australia.

The impact of human activity on the environment has implications for economic, ecological and social consequences everywhere. Population growth has major consequences. Australia is destined to have further growth, and the consequences of this on its unique resources deserve serious attention.
