Membership Categories
EIANZ offers the following categories of membership:
Full Member (MEIANZ)
A Member of the EIANZ is a fully qualified, professional practitioner with experience in an environmental field of endeavour.
The criteria for Full Membership are:
• a tertiary degree plus a minimum of two years professional experience in one or more functional areas of environmental practice; or
• five or more years of experience in function areas of environmental practice.
Associate Member
Graduates in the process of gaining relevant work experience, and individuals wanting access to EIANZ information who are not eligible for full membership status, may apply to become an Associate member.
Student member
Individuals undertaking tertiary-level study related to one or more functional areas of environmental practice are encouraged to apply for student membership. Both full time and part time students are eligible.
Fellow (FEIANZ)
A Member of the Institute becomes a Fellow through invitation extended by the President of EIANZ. The award of the Fellowship is made by the President on advice from the Executive Committee of Council, based on recommendations put forward by the Fellowship Review Committee.
Fellowship status is awarded in recognition of special distinction as a practitioner in an environmental field of endeavour. A Fellow is also distinguished on the basis of length of service and valued contributions of energy and commitment to the environmental profession. The President, having received recommendations from the Executive, will issue invitations.
The minimum personal and professional standards required of Fellowship nominees are that they should possess a tertiary qualification or equivalent experience which provides eligibility for Membership of the Institute; have substantially occupied a senior position of influence in the environmental profession for a minimum of ten years and acquired a high level of general environmental knowledge; be of good character and personal repute and have established a professional reputation, with high ethical and moral standards, and be held in high esteem within their professional and associated professions; and be a current Member in good standing of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand for a continuous period of not less than two years.
Retired Fellows and Members
Fellows and Members who have retired from regular practice can maintain their membership status at Associate rates, with the option of subscribing to the Journal at member rates.
