A message to our Prime Ministers ahead of COP26

Published 18 October 2021

The EIANZ calls for our national delegations to COP26 in Glasgow to be the strongest that our nations can assemble and that they commit genuine efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and work effectively with other national leaders to develop and implement global solutions. We strongly encourage the Prime Ministers of Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, to attend to clearly demonstrate our countries’ commitments and capabilities.

As wealthy nations and neighbours to some of the nations most impacted by climate change, it is our responsibility to lead, support and encourage rapid action. And, as nations severely impacted by the effects of climate change and with resources that will be in high demand in a low emission global society, it is in our best interest to seize the opportunities and address the risks.
