Welcome to this week's Institute Insider

We’re coming to the end of a very busy week at the Institute! At the time of writing the EIANZ 2022 Annual Conference is finishing up with a day of field trips for our attendees. During the Annual Conference we announced the recipients of the EIANZ Merit Awards, welcomed four new EIANZ Fellows, and announced the appointment of two EIANZ Honorary Life Members. Further details on these announcements can be found in the Institute news section below.

On Wednesday, we sent out a notice to members for the EIANZ 2022 Annual General Meeting taking place on Wednesday 16 November via Zoom. We also released the EIANZ 2021-22 Annual Report that highlights our achievements over the last financial year and the outstanding contributions of our volunteers and staff. If you haven’t done so already it’s well worth a look.

Read on below for an update on the CEnvP Scheme’s Social Impact Assessment specialist certification, as well as a rundown of EIANZ professional development and networking opportunities that are coming up in November. Finally, the Melbourne-based Central Office will be closed on Tuesday 1 November for a public holiday and will be operating with reduced staff on Monday 31 October. We thank you for your patience with queries during this time.

Stay safe, stay connected.

CEnvP Scheme launches Social Impact Assessment specialist certification

In a global first, the Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) Scheme has a specialist certification in Social Impact Assessment (SIA), in response to industry and practitioner demand. The CEnvP-SIA specialist certification aims to advance the profession by recognising the extensive professional experience, skills, and ethical conduct of eligible SIA practitioners.

Applications for the CEnvP-SIA specialist certification are now open to practitioners who have at least 10 years’ full-time equivalent experience across the last 17 years in social practice, with five of those in SIA practice. For more information on the requirements, and to apply, see the Guidance Notes on the CEnvP website.
