Diane Dowdell

Diane Dowdell has over 20 years’ experience in the environmental field including more than 14 years’ as a leader of environmental teams and as a senior environmental manager. She has worked across a broad range of industries as an environmental professional including the public sector, resources and mining, tourism and consulting.

Diane has been an active member of EIANZ for 20 years, since 1999 when she joined as a graduate. She was elected WA Division Committee member in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and coordinates some of the WA Division events. Diane was also previously a member of the public relations special interest group.

Diane is actively involved in many different committees; she is a non-executive director for Bicycles for Humanity, a Committee Member for the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, a member of the Community & Environment Society, and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

In one of her roles, the Senior Environmental Officer for the Western Australian’s Department of Environment, she produced outstanding work developing environmental policies and strategic environmental planning which had considerable influence on waste management in WA for some years afterwards. Diane was instrumental in the development of the early policies and environmental management framework for Fortescue Metals Group Ltd, which is recognised globally as having best practice in areas of environmental management, health and safety. She has worked in multiple roles within the resources sector in impact assessment and management focussed on environmental performance and improvement programs.

Diane’s holds many qualifications including a Master of Environmental Science, Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Diploma of Science.
