The Role

EDP is seeking an ambitious and highly motived Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant and contaminated land practitioner ready to take the next step in their career. The exciting opportunity is to join the team in a management capacity and play a critical role in continuing the growth of the newly established Environment team in Brisbane.

The position suits an experienced consultant ready to step up to the next level and apply their skills and experience gained thus far in their career to shape and develop the new team of specialist environmental consultants into market leaders in the Brisbane, SEQ and wider QLD region.

The candidate will have an instant impact, bringing in clients and networks to the team to supplement the existing client base. The candidate will have the autonomy to apply their skills and work collaboratively with the Environment Manager QLD and QLD State Manager in developing and implementing a business development and growth plan for the short, medium and long term goals in 2022 and beyond. There will also be opportunities to support the wider EDP team in NSW, the RSK team internationally and actively contribute to the expansion of EDP in Australia.

You will have freedom to contribute into all aspects of business management including networking and client engagement, identifying opportunities and proposal preparation, identification of potential recruitment candidates, contribution to budget preparation, operations and P&L performance management, team and line management responsibilities, training and development and project delivery.

Essential Requirement: Minimum of 6 years of environmental and contaminated land consulting experience in QLD.

RSK provides end-to-end services to help organisations achieve their aspirations in a sustainable and efficient manner. RSK Australia is currently in a acquisition phase and looking to increase its offerings across multiple environmental sectors in Australia.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Consultant to join our rapidly expanding Australian operations. This is an exciting opportunity to help grow EDP and be part of the EDP and RSK journey in Australia from an early stage. We believe this is a rare opportunity to help grow and shape the culture of a new business with support from the wider EDP Group.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide a range of the following services and activities to clients of EDP:

  • Business development activities for new and existing accounts, across all functions.
  • Identify and track new work winning opportunities with the aim of transition into successful project wins.
  • Leverage existing client relationships and networks to supplement EDP client accounts and bring new business to the team.
  • Explore and understand our client’s businesses and challenges and to develop new approaches and new innovative solutions.
  • Develop detailed proposals clearly detailing scope, methodology, fees and limitations.
  • Manage and conduct assessments of sites to determine the nature and extent of contamination, including site works as and when required.
  • Assess risk to human health and the environment and develop appropriate remedial strategies in collaboration with the technical teams.
  • Act as a Suitably Qualified Person (SQP) under the QLD Environmental Protection Act 1994.
  • Prepare accurate high-quality reports in a timely fashion.
  • Coach and mentor junior career consultants and support their development.
  • Identification of recruitment opportunities and identification of suitable candidates.
  • Team and direct line management.
  • Deepen existing client relationships to expand regional business opportunities and services.
  • Develop and deliver assessment and remediation training programs internally.
  • Develop and deliver training presentations to educate our clients.
  • Other related activities as required and instructed to complete to support EDP.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Tertiary Qualification in related area.
  • Minimum 6 recent years environmental and contaminated land consulting experience in QLD.
  • Full membership of related professional body e.g. MEIANZ.
  • Act as an SQP under the QLD EP Act 1994.
  • CEnvP and SC desirable.
  • Demonstrable existing client, market and sector knowledge in Brisbane and QLD.
  • MS office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Commercial management, preparation of proposals.
  • Project Management.
  • Report Writing.
  • Organisation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the challenges of a newly created business.
  • Ability to develop good relationships with clients and representatives at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills with English language.
  • Ability to work within a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work on site, remotely and independently.
  • Flexible and pro-active attitude to work.
