Did you follow the Northern Territory Hydraulic Fracturing Inquiry? As part of the Northern Territory Government’s response to the Inquiry recommendations, the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) will now be responsible for reviewing petroleum Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and providing advice and recommendations to the Environment Minister to ensure the protection of the Northern Territory’s unique environment.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is seeking a passionate and committed professional to support the NT EPA in its role by assessing the potential environmental impacts and risks associated with onshore gas exploration and production.  The successful candidate will report to the Senior Onshore Petroleum Advisor and the position is responsible for investigating, developing and implementing environmental protection guidance material, policies and strategies for onshore gas activities.

This position requires a person with experience in environmental management and regulation applicable to major projects and with major hazard identification and risk assessment skills.
