Boral is Australia’s largest construction materials company, with a dedicated in-house team of professionals who manage a property portfolio that includes over 200 sites in NSW and ACT.

Boral’s Land & Property Group provides professional advice and assistance on all aspects of planning and development matters for Boral’s industrial and end of use operations.

We are looking for a highly-motivated Senior Environmental Planner or Scientist in our Sydney based planning team starting September 2018. This role will be based at Boral’s offices at North Ryde, with scope for flexible working arrangements.

 

The Role

Reporting directly to the Senior Planning and Development Manager, specific tasks for this role include:

  • Prepare, lodge and negotiate local and state significant planning applications to deliver an approval consistent with the company’s expectations.
  • Assisting in the acquisition, divestment, negotiation, and documentation of freehold and leasehold interests.
  • Review draft plans & consultant reports, and manage their timely finalisation within agreed budgets.
  • Review development consents and advise the operations on implementation.
  • Present to and negotiate with Council, State Government Departments, public and industry lobby group meetings or as required by the Senior Planning and Development Manager.

 

Our Ideal Candidate

Skills, knowledge and experience expectations for this Role include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Planning, Environmental Science or a related degree/discipline (essential).
  • 7+ years’ planning or environmental science (preferably consulting) experience.
  • Current drivers’ licence.
  • Sound understanding of relevant planning, environmental and natural resource legislation, statutory controls and planning policies.
  • Outstanding written, oral and aural communication skills.
  • Capable of solving problems and presenting solutions in a diplomatic manner.
  • Proven capacity to meet deadlines and independently prioritise tasks.
  • Able to consider all aspects of a situation, view issues from various perspectives and exercise sound judgement.
  • Confident working both autonomously and collaboratively with other team members.
