Monica Clare Recruitment is proud to partner with a global environmental consultancy firm that specialises in providing professional and technical services for bushfire planning and design, environmental planning and approvals, ecology, flora and fauna, land management and regeneration, land contamination and remediation, and spotter catcher services. Due to a strong pipeline of work and expected growth in the future, they are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their Land Management team based in Newcastle.

About the role:

You will lead and engage a diverse team of 10-20 people who provide bush regeneration and landscaping services for private industry and government authorities. Roughly half of your time will be based in the office focusing on safety procedures, and the other half will be out in the field and carrying out client-facing responsibilities. This is an opportunity to actively demonstrate your experience and capability in bush regeneration and also progress your professional development and leadership skills.

Our client has a supportive company culture that encourages career development alongside industry leading professionals. Although the Newcastle office retains its roots as a small family company that values flexibility and work/life balance, the company is part of an international consulting firm which attracts big clients and provides access to the best technology and resources. The best of both worlds!

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you hold:

  • Recognised qualifications in Conservation and Land Management or similar
  • General knowledge of local native plant species and vegetation communities or a demonstrated ability and method to get up to speed with the flora of the Hunter region in a reasonable time frame
  • Good knowledge and identification of weeds and weed control methods
  • Minimum of 3 years on-ground experience in the industry including bush regeneration, horticulture or relevant land management role
  • Experience in a supervisory role or demonstrated ability to lead a team
  • Excellent communication skills to enable effective liaison with team members and clients
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Practical knowledge of work health and safety policies and procedures, risk management practice and principles
  • Ability to operate and maintain vehicles and field equipment
  • Self motivated with a strong attention to detail
  • A strong work ethic and alignment with company values
  • Desirable but not essential: ChemCert qualifications; Chainsaw qualifications; Senior First Aid
