This is a new role with considerable scope to lead, define and continually reinvent how we deliver the best results for clients. Being part of Element’s leadership team, you’ll have direct access to and the full support of the Director and General Manager in your role of leading a highly experienced team to think differently and provide our clients solutions that exceed their expectations.  
  
Specifically, you will:  

  • Provide leadership and direction to the planning and environment team.
  • Provide ongoing up to date technical advice to our clients and team on environmental planning and impact assessment. 
  • Direct/manage major assignments and prepare robust proposals and lead complex multidisciplinary assessments/projects. 
  • Review planning/environmental assessment deliverables for the company to ensure they meet company quality standards, are written in plain English and are technically sound. 
  • Provide feedback to the team on written deliverables to facilitate continual improvement. 
  • Manage relationships with clients and key stakeholders in project delivery.  
  • Regularly research and provide the Element team with updates to relevant planning changes in NSW. 
  • Actively represent Element at the client interface and networking events to promote the business to potential clients.  
  • Participate in leadership team meetings and activities to define and deliver against the overall business strategy. 
  • Develop the planning and environment team through identifying skills gaps to inform future recruitment and training requirements.  

  The successful candidate will need to demonstrate;  

  • Minimum 15 years experience in environmental planning and impact assessment in NSW 
  • Previous leadership responsibility in a planning and environmental consultancy including key client management and management of a team 
  • Prior experience in leading pursuits and proposals for major environmental planning and impact assessment opportunities including assessing the opportunity, developing a winning strategy, assembling a winning team, pricing a winning budget and converting the opportunity to a sale 
  • That you’re highly regarded (‘go to’ person) in the industry by clients, regulators and peers for your technical knowledge on environmental planning and impact assessment including planning and environmental legislation/guidelines and specialist/technical disciplines 
  • Exceptional verbal and written ability – able to succinctly present highly technical information in plain English 
  • Preferable exposure to one or all of the following market sectors -  transport/infrastructure, waste and industrial, extractive industries/mining 
  • That you’re a professional operator skilled in working collaboratively to achieve client objectives 
  • That you’re driven to upskill and share knowledge with the team and develop yourself professionally by being open and taking on board feedback with grace 
  • That you’re a positive leader that polarises people, is solutions driven and constantly challenges the norm 
  • Proficiency in Office 365 including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro 
  • Degree/Masters in Environmental Planning or Environmental Science
