Woongal Environmental Services (Woongal) is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, experienced and results-driven General Manager to lead the organisation, manage Woongal’s business activities, and report directly to the Board through a Board designated Director.
The General Manager role is a hands-on position where you will be expected to actively participate in project/service delivery to the company’s clients. An ideal candidate will have directly relevant experience in the leadership and success of an environmental services business.
The core objectives of the position are to ensure that there is Indigenous Participation in the implementation of projects/services across the company and that environmental services are conducted at a professional standard and that Woongal continues to grow as a successful and respected First Nations environmental services company.
The General Manager’s responsibilities will include:
Developing and securing Board support for business plans and policies;
Identifying and securing new business;
Monitoring and reporting to the Board on the performance of the company;
Allocating company resources and controlling costs;
Implementing effective and efficient administrative processes;
Coordinating business operations;
Actively participating in project/service delivery;
Overseeing the hiring and training of employees and leading organisational HR functions;
Engaging with clients, sub-contractors, vendors, and regulators.
The General Manger will have a close working relationship with the Board contributing to the development of business strategies that deliver on Woongal’s values as a First Nations environmental services company.

The company is delivering projects in central Queensland and is seeking to establish an office to service the delivery of these projects, and to progressively develop new business opportunities.
Ten (10) or more years demonstrated experience in the planning and practical management of complex environmental and natural resource management projects / programs (experience of land management for conservation and / or environmental management of mining would be desirable).
Well-developed analytical, written and verbal communication skills and experience in preparing high quality reports and assessments.
Proven ability in issue identification, analysis and research, problem solving, and development of innovative, sensitive practical and strategic solutions.
Proven ability to monitor progress across multiple tasks and reporting schedules, revise priorities, and deliver outcomes on time and within budgets.
Proven ability to build and lead teams of First Nations staff engaged in delivering projects/services.
Demonstrated experience in the mentoring and management of people, monitoring of performance standards, reporting progress, and achieving desired outcomes.
Demonstrated practical experience in the management of complex engagement and stakeholder relationships.
Practical experience in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with First Nations communities.
